Camano Island: Fundraiser proceeds will keep library open
The Camano Island Library Friends raised enough money at its recent Reading Between the Vines auction and dinner to keep the library open, member Connie Hall said.
Though she is still looking at numbers, Hall said the fundraiser should enable the Camano Library to stay open for another two years.
Sno-Isle Libraries established the library in 2007 as a three-year pilot project to gauge whether there was interest for a permanent Camano Island facility. The idea was that at the end of the three years, voters would be asked to approve a bond issue to fund the library.
Last summer, the Sno-Isle Libraries Board approved an indefinite extension of the Camano pilot project if the Camano Island Library Friends agreed to raise $20,000 a year to offset the cost of the library’s lease. A bond issue will be placed on the ballot after the economy improves.
Granite Falls: Part of Highway 92 to close for roundabout work

The closure, between the two intersections of Highway 92 and Crooked Mile Road, begins at 7 a.m. Monday. Drivers will be detoured onto Crooked Mile Road.
The closure and its duration depend on weather. The $28.7 million bypass route around the north end of the city is scheduled to be finished in the fall.
