Arlington: Airport taxiway is a bad place to take a walk

Arlington Municipal Airport officials are asking walkers to stay away from the airport’s main north-south airplane taxi lane, Taxiway A.

Strolling along the taxiway is dangerous for walkers and pilots. It’s also prohibited by law and people could be cited for trespassing.

Walkers are encouraged to use the trail around the airport, in particular the stretch between 59th Drive NE and 59th Avenue NE.

Marysville: Father-daughter dance tickets still available

Tickets are still available for three of four Father-Daughter Valentine’s dances organized by the city of Marysville Parks and Recreation Department.

Dances are scheduled for 5 to 7 p.m. and 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Feb. 6 and Feb. 20 at Cedarcrest Middle School, 6400 88th St. NE. The 5 p.m. dance Feb. 6 is sold out. Tickets remain for the other three.

Tickets are $15 per couple, $5 for each additional daughter, and may be purchased at the Parks and Recreation Office at Jennings Park, 6915 Armar Road. Registration is required.

Stanwood: Polar plunge becomes a presidential affair

A polar-bear plunge at Lake Goodwin County Park is now scheduled for Presidents Day on Feb. 15, Snohomish County Parks and Recreation officials said. The original date was Jan. 1. The park is at 4620 Lakewood Road.

Posing firefighters will autograph calendar

Firefighters who posed for the Washington State Council of Fire Fighters Burn Foundation 2010 calendar are scheduled to sign calendars from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Leatherheads Pub and Eatery, 10209 270th St. NW.

The pub is located in the former Stanwood fire station and is named after the style of helmets firefighters used to wear.

Among the firefighters featured in the calendar is Mr. February, Robert Shelley of the Stanwood-Camano Fire Department.

Birding festival volunteers needed

Volunteers are needed to help with the 2010 Port Susan Snow Goose and Birding Festival on Feb. 20 and 21. Volunteer jobs include helping with registration and coordinating activities throughout the festival weekend.

Missoula Children’s Theater and Twin City Elementary School students and staff plan to present “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” at 6 p.m. Saturday at Stanwood High School, 7400 272nd St. NW.
