BOTHELL — Northshore School Board Director Ken Smith announced Monday that he intends to resign and campaign for a state Senate seat.
Smith’s District 2 seat covers the westernmost parts of the attendance zone on both sides of the Snohomish-King county line. It includes parts of Bothell, Brier and nearby areas of unincorporated Snohomish County.
He intends to run for the 45th Legislative District senate seat previously held by state Sen. Andy Hill, R-Redmond, who died this past fall.
The Northshore School Board plans to discuss Smith’s decision at an upcoming meeting and determine the next steps to fill the seat.
