TACOMA — A Pierce County sheriff’s deputy fired four shots into a car that rammed his car after a traffic stop Thursday in Spanaway.
Sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer says no one was hurt.
Troyer told The News Tribune of Tacoma that the man was wanted on an arrest warrant accusing him of escape and that property in his car may have been stolen.
He backed into the deputy’s car after the traffic stop then made a U-turn and hit the deputy’s car again.
After the deputy fired four shots into his windshield, the man surrendered.
Sedro-Woolley: Man is attacked in his home
Skagit County sheriff’s detectives are investigating whether an attack on a homeowner near Sedro-Woolley was random or targeted.
The 44-year-old resident says a man came to his door early Thursday asking to use the phone. When the resident said no, the man lunged at him with a knife and fled.
The sheriff’s office says the homeowner suffered a collapsed lung and slash wounds to his face. He’s reported in stable condition at Skagit Valley Hospital.
Wenatchee: Dead man tied to drug robberies
Police in Wenatchee say they believe a man who was shot and killed by a homeowner also committed robberies at three local pharmacies.
Sgt. John Kruse said 43-year-old Scott Bates’ clothing during the fatal break-in Monday was similar to that worn by the man who robbed the Central Washington Hospital pharmacy twice in February.
Surveillance video also shows the man who robbed the Walgreens pharmacy in Wenatchee on Jan. 17 was armed with a rifle similar to one police found in Bates’ pickup after he was killed.
Police say Bates used a sledgehammer to break into the home of 25-year-old Joshua Ray on Monday. Bates shot Ray in the leg during the confrontation, and Ray fatally shot Bates.

Bunk told The Seattle Times that police are trying to determine whether the baby was alive at the time of birth.
It was not immediately clear whether the teenager tried to conceal the birth, or how the baby died.
