Colville girl spends 2 nights alone in forest
COLVILLE — Relieved grandpa John Warner said 8-year-old Paige Wilson survived two cold nights outside on her own in the Colville National Forest, calling her a “tough little girl.” The Colville girl wandered away from her family’s camp on Friday evening. After a search by sheriff’s deputies, other authorities and volunteers, she was found Sunday morning, more than two miles from the campground.
Yakima: Worker killed in tractor accident
A worker was killed when the tractor he was driving overturned on an orchard embankment near Wiley City, west of Yakima. Coroner Jack Hawkins said that 35-year-old Aaron Corona Ponce of the Yakima area had been spraying the orchard Monday morning when the tractor rolled.
Spokane: Stabbing suspect in custody
Spokane police have arrested a woman in connection with an incident in which a man was stabbed in the head with a knife. The 19-year-old victim is listed in serious condition in a Spokane hospital after the stabbing early Monday morning. He was in surgery as doctors tried to remove the knife from his head.
Prosser: Center will promote wine and food
Construction is expected to start soon on the next phase of a $6 million center at Prosser to promote Washington wines and food products. The Tri-City Herald reported bids will be opened Wednesday for an outdoor event facility at the center overlooking the Yakima River.
