NORMANDY PARK — Normandy Park police are looking for a lost dog — one of their own.
Police say 2-year-old Rocky, an 80-pound bloodhound, got out of his handler’s yard Saturday night in Des Moines and was still missing Sunday morning.
Des Moines police and King County sheriff’s deputies and a helicopter have been enlisted in the search.
Police say Rocky is very friendly and is not aggressive. The dog has been used to find missing people and help apprehend fugitives.
Shoreline: Bothell pumpkin sets record
A father and a son from Bothell have won more than $2,000 for growing Washington state’s largest pumpkin.
Cheers for the 1,467-pound gourd arose Saturday at the Pacific Northwest Giant Pumpkin Growers club weigh-in at Central Market in Shoreline.
The pumpkin was grown by 56-year-old Walt Perham and his 32-year-old son, Brad, a radiology technician at Overlake Hospital in Bellevue.
It is descended from a seed called 1689 Jutras, named for the world record-setting 1,689-pound pumpkin grown last year by Joe Jutras of Scituate, R.I.
Wapato: Boy killed by falling television
A toddler has died after being hit by a falling wide-screen television at a home in Wapato.
Wapato police Sgt. Bruce Benscoter says the 2-year-old boy had stopped breathing by the time officers arrived at the house Friday. He was pronounced dead after being taken to Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital.
The death has been ruled an accident.
