YAKIMA — A wildfire that raged across at least 62 square miles has destroyed a well-known cafe east of Yakima.
A Benton County Emergency Services information officer, Elizabeth Smith, says the Silver Dollar Cafe at the intersection of State Routes 24 and 241 east of Moxee went up in smoke Friday evening.
Rick and Martha Lounsbury of Terrace Heights, who bought the cafe about a year ago, have not been available for comment.
Their business was in the path of the Dry Creek fire complex, the largest of a series of range fires across central Washington in recent days. More than 250 firefighters have been dispatched to try to put out the flames.
Seattle: man suspected of killing his father
A 50-year-old Seattle man was shot to death early Sunday, and police say his 25-year-old son told authorities he did the shooting while high on drugs.
According to a police statement, a caller to 911 said he had shot his father. When officers arrived, the son and his wife came out of the southeast Seattle house and his father was found dead of multiple gunshots inside.
Officers say the son told them he shot his father after smoking phencyclidine, a hallucinogenic drug known as PCP, angel dust, rocket fuel and other street names.
Police say the man was taken to a hospital because he appeared to be experiencing psychotic episodes and will be jailed for investigation of homicide.
