PORTLAND — Even some “polar bears” are hibernating during the snowstorm that socked Oregon and southwest Washington.
Organizers have postponed Polar Bear Plunge events scheduled for Saturday in Corvallis, Eugene and Portland. The annual event sends swimmers into cold winter water to benefit Special Olympics.
Team recruitment manager Lindsey Warner says traveling conditions and the inability to set up changing tents because of the storm led to the decision.
There’s no word yet on whether the plunges will be rescheduled.
Many other events have been postponed by the weather — from a fundraiser for suicide prevention at the Portland Art Museum to a memorial service for Lorane Fire Chief Joe Brewer.
