VANCOUVER, Wash. — The man accused of being the River Rat Robber pleaded not guilty in Vancouver to five charges.
Police believe the holdups of three cash advance stores and two banks in Vancouver were part of a string of 18 robberies last summer and fall in Washington and Oregon. The FBI nicknamed the robber the River Rat for hitting both sides of the Columbia River.
After Wednesday’s arraignment, the 32-year-old Bonney Lake man, Alexey Perez-Hernandez, remains in the Clark County Jail on $1 million bail. Trial is set for March 1.
The Vancouver Columbian reports he was arrested in October in Pierce County after a fingerprint was found from the September robbery at a Kent check-cashing store.
