Nurse died of blunt force in helicopter crash

EDMONDS – The cause of death of a Seattle nurse whose body was recovered among some of the debris left by a medic helicopter that plunged into Browns Bay off the Edmonds coastline last week has been determined.

Erin Reed, 48, died of blunt force injuries, the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office reported Wednesday.

The bodies of the pilot of the Airlift Northwest helicopter, Steve Smith of Whidbey Island and nurse Lois Suzuki of Seattle have not been found.

A memorial for the three is planned for 11 a.m. today at Boeing Field in Seattle.

The helicopter crashed Sept. 29 while returning to its Arlington base from Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

The U.S. Coast Guard searched for three days to recover the missing crew members and the wreckage but has been unable to locate the crash site.

Airlift Northwest has requested that the U.S. Navy assist in finding the helicopter.

Everett: Man who was stabbed to death ID’d

The man who was killed Friday in the parking lot of a north Everett market has been identified as William T. Hogan.

Hogan, 40, died of a stab wound to the chest, the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office reported Wednesday.

The Everett father was reportedly stabbed to death during an argument with another man in the 1900 block of Walnut Avenue.

Police arrested a man Sunday at a Marysville residence in connection with the homicide.

That man has been booked into the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of second-degree murder.

Suspects in thefts from building charged

The man suspected of stealing thousands of dollars of high-tech gear from a Lynnwood office building was charged in Everett District Court on Monday with one count of second-degree burglary.

The 37-year-old transient turned himself in by calling 911 from an Everett hotel room. He allegedly confessed to robbing the CRS Financial Center once in July and again in mid-September.

The building’s owner had offered a $10,000 reward for anyone who could give information leading to the suspect’s arrest. The man never tried to collect the reward, Lynnwood police said.

Lynnwood: Suspect in ring theft arrested

A man suspected of stealing a $169,000 diamond ring from a Lynnwood jewelry store was arrested in Cleveland, Ohio, two weeks ago for allegedly carrying a concealed weapon into a bar.

Patrick Lionel Guillory, 32, was charged Sept. 10 with first-degree theft in connection with the Aug. 30 heist at International Jewelers in the 19200 block of Alderwood Mall Parkway. Guillory allegedly snatched a 8.5-carat princess-cut diamond after saying he was shopping for his fiance.

Guillory gave a fake name when the Cleveland Police Department arrested him Sept. 20, Lynnwood police detective Josh Kelsey said. Officers learned he was wanted elsewhere when they fingerprinted him.

In Cleveland, Guillory was charged with two felony counts of carrying a concealed weapon.

Guillory also owes six months in state prison in New York for parole violation, Kelsey said. He’ll eventually be brought back to Snohomish County to face his local charges.
