PROSSER — A high school in southeast Washington was briefly evacuated and seven people were taken to a hospital as a precaution after a chemical smell was reported in one of the school’s restrooms.
The Tri-City Herald reported that a school district official said Prosser High School was evacuated for about 20 minutes Tuesday afternoon.
Assistant Superintendent Mary Snitily said four students and three staff members were checked at a local hospital and released.
She said the school is trying to determine the cause of the smell, which she said was not a gas leak.
