Condiment crime spree
Police in Idaho say a 74-year-old Boise woman arrested after pouring mayonnaise in the Ada County library’s book drop box is suspected in at least 10 other condiment-related crimes.
Joy Cassidy was picked up Sunday at the library, moments after police say she pulled through the outside drive-through and dumped a jar of mayo in the box designated for reading materials.
Cassidy was released from jail and faces a misdemeanor charge of malicious injury to property.
Boise police said Cassidy is under investigation for other cases of vandalism that started in May 2009. Library employees have reported finding books in the drop box covered in corn syrup and ketchup.
Robber dropped all but $1
Pittsburgh police are searching for a butterfingered convenience store robber who got away with seven packs of cigarettes but dropped all but $1 of the money he stole.
Police said the man robbed a Uni-Mart in Detroit late Sunday night, wearing a ski mask and ball cap and pointing a handgun at a clerk who gave him $66.
Flaming liquor stunt leads to bartender’s arrest
A barkeep whose flaming liquor show was featured in “Real Housewives of New York City” has been arrested for allegedly performing the fiery feat.
Albert Trummer, 40, told The New York Times that he is a mixologist, not “a pyrotechnic maniac.”
New York authorities said undercover fire marshals arrested Trummer early Sunday after he set alight Apotheke’s bar top, where he had poured various liquors. Chief Fire Marshal Robert Byrnes says the stunt sparked a “huge fireball.”
Fire officials say the flames created a danger for the dozens of people at the Chinatown bar. The bartender was arrested on two counts of misdemeanor reckless endangerment.
Deer drops in on restaurant
It wasn’t on the menu, but customers at a Batavia, N.Y., Applebee’s got a close look at some venison on the hoof Sunday night after a deer crashed through the window.
Customer Bruce Beck, who was visiting from Wisconsin, said the deer nearly slid into the booth next to his before veering away and running through the restaurant.
Witnesses said people were able to herd the deer out the front door. No one was hurt.
