The Snohomish County Medical Examiners Office on Wednesday confirmed the identity of a man shot and killed Saturday after a confrontation with a deputy sheriff.
The medical examiner said Justin Gaswint, 32, died of a gunshot wound to the body.
Police say the fatal confrontation occurred around 5:30 a.m. Saturday after a sheriff’s deputy stopped to talk with Gaswint, who was on the 164th Street I-5 overpass.
Police say Gaswint allegedly charged and threatened to kill the deputy as he climbed out of his patrol car. The two men fought and the deputy, 25, shot Gaswint in the chest. He died at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
The incident is under investigation by the Snohomish County Multiple Agency Response Team.
