The King County medical examiner on Tuesday identified a Bothell-area man who died in a hiking accident at Deception Falls as Aaron Rose, 26.
Rose slipped on a mossy rock and fell down a 75-foot cliff into the Skykomish River and was swept 500 to 1,000 feet downstream by the current. His death was by drowning, the medical examiner said.
He had been hiking near the falls off U.S. 2 east of Skykomish. Another hiker jumped into the river and pulled Rose out, but his companions and emergency responders were unable to revive him.
