LYNNWOOD — A house fire Thursday afternoon near Alderwood Mall displaced five people and six dogs, fire officials said.
Just after 3:15 p.m., the fire broke out in a three-story home in the 4200 block of 192nd Street SW, according to South County Fire. When firefighters arrived, they found flames shooting from a door on the lower level of the home.
Fire crews stopped the flames from spreading throughout the house. After exiting the house, residents went back inside to rescue their six dogs, all of whom were OK, according to South County Fire.
“Never go back inside a burning building,” South County Fire wrote in a tweet. “It’s not worth the risk.”
Firefighters evaluated four people for smoke inhalation at the scene, officials said. A neighbor was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation. A firefighter also had to go to the hospital with minor injuries.
South County Fire believed the fire was an accident. The Red Cross was assisting the displaced residents.
