SHORELINE — Snohomish County leaders sought Tuesday to ease neighbors’ concerns over a proposed high-rise development at Point Wells.
County officials agreed in principle to involve the city of Shoreline in the environmental review process, County Council Chairman Dave Somers said. The agreement would stop short of giving the city complete oversight on issues such as traffic. Somers called the meeting positive.
If built, the mixed-use development in unincorporated Snohomish County, next to Woodway, would include just over 3,000 condo units. All street traffic to the site would go through Shoreline, in King County.
State Sen. Craig Pridemore, D-Vancouver, oversaw Tuesday’s meeting and is planning to write up points of potential agreement.
A formal agreement might accomplish some of the goals of a bill pending in the Legislature, which seeks to give Shoreline and possibly other jurisdictions more oversight of any development at Point Wells. Some Snohomish County leaders believe the bill would conflict with state growth laws. Lawmakers have until April 12 to pass the bill, otherwise it will lapse.
