OLYMPIA — South Puget Sound Community College has decided to discontinue its horticulture program.
College spokeswoman Kellie Purce Braseth says a study of graduates found many of the jobs the two-year program was designed to fill are now being taken by high school graduates.
One student, Shana Burk, told The Olympian the college told students one of the reasons for ending the program was that graduates aren’t earning enough money with their degrees.
