PORT ANGELES — The Olympic National Park says it is removing a nine-person crew that has been monitoring a wildfire started by lightning Aug. 5 on the east side of the park on Mount Hopper.
The park says the fire has burned 385 acres but has stopped spreading.
After the monitors hike out today, officials will monitor the fire from the air.
Since the fire presents no immediate risk to life or property, officials will allow it to play its natural role in the environment.
