AUBURN — A King County sheriff’s spokesman said only animal bones were found in a search Saturday of the area where remains of a woman believed to be a Green River killer victim were found last month.
Earlier reports said possible remains had been found in the steep ravine in Auburn where the skull of Rebecca “Becky” Marrero was found Dec. 21. She had not been seen since 1982 and has long been considered a likely victim of Green River killer Gary Ridgway.
However, Sgt. John Urquhart said none of the bones appear to be human. He says there currently are no plans to return to the site.
Ridgway pleaded guilty in 2003 to murdering 48 women starting in the early 1980s. In a deal to spare him the death penalty, he agreed to lead investigators to remains of his victims.
