Help: Sultan event ensures no one eats alone
Operation Turkey Drop is under way to bring in donations for Sultan Harvest, a Thanksgiving event that includes a free community dinner. Donations of cash, nonperishable food items, coats, hats, gloves and blankets can be brought to the Sky Valley Eagles, 1112 E. Main St., or the Sultan Visitor Information Center, 320 Main St.
The Sultan Harvest event will be held 12-4 p.m. Nov. 27, Thanksgiving, in the commons at Sultan High School, 13715 310th Ave. SE. Volunteers also are needed. Contact Sky Valley Volunteers of America at 360-793-2400.

Don: Warm hats for kids in Lowell
Lowell Community Food Bank will distribute hats for kids of all ages, from newborns to teens, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday and again Dec. 6. The food bank is at 5218 S. Second Ave., Everett. Families of children who need a warm hat for winter are invited to come.
Volunteers make hundreds of hats all year to distribute. The food bank is an all-volunteer group that offers food services, as well as classes in canning, cooking, gardening and more that are open to the general public. Volunteers are needed.

Rally: Huskies, Cougars face off for hunger
The Lynnwood Convention Center holds an Apple Cup-themed food drive through Nov. 25. Fans of the teams can compete to collect the most food for the Lynnwood Food Bank. Monetary donations as well as nonperishable food items will be accepted, at 2 pounds for every dollar (make checks out to “Lynnwood Food Bank”).
The winning team will be announced before the Nov. 29 Apple Cup game. The convention center is at 3711 196th St. SW.

Attend: Lunch for Domestic Violence Services
Domestic Violence Services of Snohomish County invites donors to “Help Take a Bite Out of Domestic Violence” at a luncheon fundraiser, from 12-2 p.m. Nov. 20 at the Outback Steakhouse, 10121 Evergreen Way, Everett. Cost is $15, plus a gift or gift card for a mother or child or father. Reservations are “strongly encouraged.”

Prepare: Christmas House gearing up
It’s time to help Christmas House, an all-volunteer nonprofit that last year provided more than 50,000 gifts to more than 9,000 children from 3,000 low-income families. The “store” is set up each December at the north Everett Boys &Girls Club gymnasium.
A host of volunteers and donations are needed to make this special holiday tradition a success. Volunteers are especially needed weekdays and on move-out day, Dec. 27.

Sew: Help make quilts for the NICU
Those who love to sew are invited to join the Snohomish County Clothing and Textile Advisors between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Nov. 21 for its monthly Sew Thoughtful project. Pre-cut quilt kits will be pieced together for Providence Hospital’s neonatal intensive-care unit.
Mary Hickey, a leader in the quilting world for more than 25 years, will lead the project in the Cougar Room behind the WSU Extension office at McCollum Park, 600 128th St. SE, Everett. Bring your sewing machine, sewing equipment and lunch.
