Sew: Charitable effort helps rehab patients

This month’s charitable project by the Snohomish County Clothing and Textile Advisors will be sewing walker bags for Group Health rehabilitation patients. The sewing party is set for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday in the Cougar classroom behind the Washington State University Extension office at McCollum Park, 600 128th St. SE, Everett.

Bring your sewing machine and other supplies, your lunch and beverage. Kits are provided.

Jam: Play or listen

Enjoy an evening of old-time music with fiddle, guitar, banjo and more Friday — and every third Friday — at the Sisco Heights Community Club, 13527 99th Ave. NE, Arlington. There’s a Celtic jam at 5 p.m., a workshop at 6 p.m., and circle jam at 7 p.m. Musicians are welcome, or just come and enjoy the music.

Eat: Pancake breakfast supports food bank

Ebenezer Lutheran Church serves up its monthly Norwegian pancake breakfast from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday. The church is at 2111 117th Ave. NE. Proceeds this month benefit the Lake Stevens Food Bank. Cost is $6; children under age 4 eat free. The breakfast is scheduled for the third Saturday of each month, from September to May.

Build: Gingerbread houses in Arlington

Kids are invited to build miniature gingerbread houses using graham crackers, 2 to 4 p.m. Dec. 20 at the Arlington Library, 135 N Washington Ave. Building materials will be provided.

Dance: Ball rings in New Year a day early

The Camano Center’s annual Black &White Ball will run from 7 to 10 p.m. Dec. 30 this year, rather than ringing in the New Year at midnight as in the past. Other things won’t change — live music to dance by, appetizers and a Champagne toast. Tickets are $15, $8 for students, and $40 for a family. The Camano Center is at 606 Arrowhead Road, Camano Island.

Learn: Classes for Edmonds seniors

The Edmonds Senior Center offers two workshops starting in the New Year.

“Living Well with Chronic Pain” will be held 12:30-3 p.m. Mondays, Jan. 23 to March 6. Learn to manage fatigue, sleep better, deal with depression and manage medications. To register, call 425-265-2283.

“Aging Mastery” will be held from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Fridays, Feb. 3 to March 3. The program from the National Council on Aging explores navigating longer lives, physical activity, sleep, financial fitness, advance planning, falls prevention and more. Cost is $15. To register, call 425-774-5555.
