Ride: Motorcycle show returns to Snohomish

Abate of Washington plans its annual Sky Valley Motorcycle Show, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday along First Street in downtown Snohomish. Admission is free for visitors. Entry fees benefit the food bank and senior center.

See all kinds of rides, include customs, old-school choppers, antique and classic rides, trikes, sidecars, and more.

Eat: Pancakes and Viking toast

Many local senior centers, churches and nonprofits offer regular breakfast fundraisers. Here are a few happening Saturday:

Lake Stevens: Catch the last Norwegian Pancake Breakfast of the season, 7:30-10:30 a.m. at Ebenezer Lutheran Church, 2111 117th Ave. NE. Cost is $6; children under age 4 are free. Proceeds this month benefit the community Bible school and day camp. The church holds the breakfast every third Saturday, September to May, often to help a local cause.

Monroe: Get your fill of pancakes 8-10:30 a.m. (and every third Saturday) at the East County Senior Center, 276 Sky River Parkway. Cost is $5, $3 under age 12. Proceeds benefit the senior center.

Bothell: A Viking Toast Breakfast is served 8 a.m. to noon at the Bothell Sons of Norway, 23905 Bothell-Everett Highway. Feast on Viking toast (OK, it’s French toast), “troll” sausage, eggs, fruit, coffee, tea and milk. Cost is $10, $7 under age 11, by cash or check. Proceeds benefit camp scholarships.

Nominate: Who’s got curb appeal?

Mountlake Terrace and Everett each seek nominations for local award programs that recognize well-maintained homes and businesses.

The Evergreen Awards in Mountlake Terrace are given in five categories: Best Maintained Residence, Best Maintained Business, Best Maintained Multifamily Property, Most Sustainable Property, and Best Transformation.

Nominations are due May 27.

The Monte Cristo Awards in Everett are given in four categories: Rejuvenation and Transformation, Pride of the Neighborhood, Neighborhood-friendly Business, and Green Gardening.

In addition, the Marian Krell Award recognizes previous Monte Cristo Award winners who have continued to excel in beautifying and maintaining their home or business over the years.

Nominations are due June 1.

Apply: Program helps youth with disabilities

The Center for Independence offers a free, five-day summer workshop designed to empower youth ages 16 to 24 who live with disabilities as they transition to the future. The workshop will help those who have a 504 plan or IEP and plan to attend college, get a job or otherwise live independently in the community in the future.

Participants will earn money each day for participation, and lunch is provided. Applications are due June 5. The workshop will be held 10 a.m.-4 p.m. July 17-21 at 502 State Ave. in Marysville.
