KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. — Crossword puzzles and recipes are among the online distractions from office work turned up by an investigation into Internet use at an Oregon county office.
The Herald and News reports that 10 employees at the Klamath County assessor’s office spent more than six hours a day, combined, surfing the Internet during a weeklong stretch last December.
One worker spent 90 minutes searching for answers to a crossword puzzle.
The browsing wasted the amount of time equivalent to three-fourths of a full-time employee.
Klamath County Commissioner Cheryl Hukill said she was “astounded” by the results of the internal investigation.
