EUGENE, Ore. — Oregon officials are investigating a Eugene employee for doing professional engineering work for the city without a license for six years.
The Register-Guard reports that Tom Larsen was officially removed from a traffic engineering position in April. Larsen had told his supervisor and state regulators that he had failed to pay the fees to renew his license and it had expired at the end of 2008.
Larsen told the Register-Guard that he’s working to restore his Oregon professional engineer license, which he first earned in 1982.
The city shifted Larsen to a positon as a traffic operation manager, which doesn’t require a license.
State law prohibits working as a professional engineer without a valid state license. The Board of Examiners for Engineering and Land Surveying is investigating.
