MEDFORD, Ore. — An Oregon inmate has pleaded guilty to his role in a sex-for-contraband scheme in Jackson County jail.
The Mail Tribune reported that William Tye Middlekauff, 27, was sentenced Monday to five months in prison, which will overlap with his current 15-month sentence for fleeing the scene of a car accident.
Middlekauff pleaded guilty to obtaining and possessing a cellphone, which is not allowed inside the jail. Charges of promoting prostitution and possessing tobacco were dismissed.
Jackson County District Attorney’s Office says Middlekauff was prosecuted because he acted as a middleman by setting up the sex-for-contraband exchanges.
A manager for the food service contractor Aramark, Buddy Gene Arnett, pleaded guilty on Friday to providing contraband and having sex with male inmates.
He was sentenced to three years of supervised probation.
