CORVALLIS, Ore. — The stepfather of an Oregon State University student has been accused of hacking her social media accounts to try to stop her from drinking and seeing a male friend.
The Corvallis Gazette-Times reported 51-year-old Bryan Duane Tilley of Keizer pleaded not guilty Tuesday to charges including coercion, computer crime, identity theft and burglary.
A police affidavit said he guessed the passwords to get access to the 22-year-old’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts.
Police said he retrieved photos from her computer, sent her email on a fake account that threatened to post the photos, and then followed through by posting them on her Instagram account.
Police said he also used the account to suggest her tires might be punctured, and entered her apartment to empty a bottle of tequila.
