SALEM, Ore. — A Marion County woman has been charged with murder in the death of her husband.
The Statesman Journal reports that 63-year-old Carolyn DiMatteo waived her right to a preliminary hearing at her arraignment Monday.
DiMatteo was arrested Saturday after calling 911 and saying she had shot and killed her husband, 69-year-old Joseph DiMatteo, at their trailer near Lyons.
According to court documents, DiMatteo told investigators that her husband was yelling at her and went for a gun in their cupboard. She said she retrieved the gun first and shot him. She said she did not intend to kill her husband.
The next court date is scheduled for Jan. 20.
