PORTLAND, Ore. — Police arrested a former Gresham High School wrestling coach accused of sexually abusing six boys.
The Gresham-Barlow School District said 25-year-old Wyatt DeRemer served as an assistant coach last school year and has also worked with wrestlers at the middle-school level. He has been booked into a Portland jail on charges of first-degree sexual abuse.
Gresham police said Friday their investigation began three weeks ago, when parents of a high school student reported that the coach had inappropriate contact with their son.
Police said the coach confessed to investigators that he abused six boys between 2009 and 2012.
The boys were all between the ages of 10 and 13 when the alleged abuse occurred. Two of the victims are believed to have been abused overseas.
Police said it does not appear that any children were abused on schools grounds.
