Free farming and gardening classes
The Snohomish Conservation District will offer three free classes in Snohomish county.
A fall fencing and seeding class is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. The class will be at Neunzig Farm in Arlington. Directions will be sent to registered participants.
A Lord Hill area farm tour is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 7 at Lucas Farm in Snohomish. Participants will tour a chore-efficient, environmentally friendly farm.

Edmonds
Parks department offers fall classes
The Edmonds parks and recreation department is offering several classes that begin in October.
Among the classes offered are drawing in pencil, playing the ukulele, dog obedience, self-defense for women and girls, and a home buyers’ workshop.

Everett
Riverfront docks closed for repairs
The rowing and boat launch docks at Langus Riverfront Park, 400 Smith Island Road, is closed until Oct. 6 for repairs. The decking is being replaced with nonslip recyclable materials.
During the closure, canoes and kayaks and boats on trailers can be launched from various locations, including Everett’s Rotary Park, 3505 Lowell-Snohomish River Road; the Port of Everett’s 10th Street boat launch; and the Waterfront Park in Marysville.

Lynnwood
Activities for those in home schools
The Lynnwood parks and recreation department offers daytime programs and services for home-schooled youth.
Activities include swimming, racquetball, wally ball, weightlifting and cardio exercise. Drop-in visits are available for $2.

Mukilteo
New city hall on the table Monday
The Mukilteo City Council is scheduled to discuss possible locations for a new city hall at its meeting Monday.
The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. at City Hall, 4480 Chennault Beach Road.
The council is expected to decide as soon as Monday from among four locations for a permanent city headquarters.
They are:
* Third Street in Old Town,
* City-owned property between the police and fire stations on 47th Place W.,
* Private property at 8522 Mukilteo Speedway, and
* The offices of Electroimpact engineering at 4606 107th Place W.

Snohomish
Garden club holds monthly meeting
The Snohomish Garden Club will hold its regular monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Oct. 9 in the Snohomish High School Performing Arts Center, 1316 Fifth St.
The featured speaker is Carrie Becker, an instructor at Edmonds Community College.
Becker also designed the perennial border at the Bellevue Botanical Garden. The meeting is open to the public. There is a $5 fee for nonmembers.
The garden club meets on the second Monday of the month from September through May. Annual dues are $15 per person.

Stanwood
Cheerleading clinic today
The Stanwood High School cheerleaders will offer a Lil Cheer Clinic for children in kindergarten through fifth grade today.
The cost is $30 or $25 each for kids in the same family. That includes pom-poms, a T-shirt and dinner.
The clinic runs 3:45 to 6:30 p.m. at Church Creek campus by Stanwood High.
After the clinic, participants will be escorted to the stadium and will cheer at halftime as Stanwood’s football team faces Arlington High School.
