Testing may turn Stillaguamish pink
The Stillaguamish River may run pink.
Consultants for the City of Arlington plan to inject a fluorescent dye into the treated effluent that enters the river at the city’s wastewater treatment plant. The dye may give portions of the river a pink tint for about four hours while the study is being conducted.
The test is meant to help the city plan to expand and upgrade its treatment plant, according to assistant city administrator Kristin Banfield.
The test is scheduled for sometime between Aug. 22 and 24, or Aug. 29 and 31, and is dependent on weather and river conditions.
