Dye testing could turn river pink
Portions of the Stillaguamish River could turn pink Tuesday while consultants hired by the city of Arlington conduct tests.
Sometime between noon and 5 p.m., a fluorescent dye will be injected into the treated effluent that enters the river at the city’s wastewater treatment plant, according to assistant city administrator Kristin Banfield. The dye may color the river pink for about four hours while the study is being conducted.
The test is meant to help the city plan to expand and upgrade its treatment plant, Banfield said.
