City, school board to meet Monday
The City Council is scheduled to meet with the Arlington School Board at 6 p.m. Monday at Weston High School, 4407 172nd St. NE.
On the agenda is dinner at 6 p.m., with the regular meeting starting at 6:30 p.m. A review of priorities and a tour of the new Weston High School are scheduled.
The city and school district’s elected officials typically meet if the month has a fifth Monday. No joint meeting is scheduled for the remainder of the school year.
The meeting is open to the public.
College starts new office programs
Cascadia Community College recently received state approval to offer two new programs: an associate’s degree in administrative office management and a certificate in office skills for students learning the English language.
The English-as-a-second-language program is one of two of its kind in the state, according to the school.
Students who earn the certificate would be on track to earn the new associate’s degree. The two programs join a computer applications specialist certificate already offered.
Clothing drive enters last day
Today is the last day to drop off new and gently worn coats, hats, scarves and mittens at Top Food and Drug in Edmonds, 21900 Highway 99.
The clothes are being collected through the Warm Coats for Kids campaign. All donations will be distributed through social welfare agencies in Western Washington.
Other Top food stores are at 1201 N. 17th St. in Shoreline, 1605 SE. Everett Mall Way in Everett and 1301 Ave. D in Snohomish.

Winter thrills at Imagine museum
Slide skating, snow bowling, ice sculpting and winter wizard hats are all part of Chill Thrills, a winter event at the Imagine Children’s Museum at 1502 Wall St. in Everett.
The event will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. The event is free with admission to the museum. General admission is $6.

Interfaith group has charity dinner
The Interfaith Association of Snohomish County will host its 10th annual charity dinner and benefit auction from 5 to 9 p.m. Feb. 11 at the Everett Holiday Inn, 3105 Pine St.
An evening of food, games, prizes and celebrity appearances is scheduled. Auction items will be up for bid, including an African safari, luxury suites to local sporting events, vacation packages, gift baskets and signed sports memorabilia.

Concert benefits music program
Harpists from around the Pacific Northwest will perform at a benefit concert from 2 to 3 p.m. Feb. 12 at Trinity Episcopal Church, 2301 Hoyt Ave.
The “Strings of Light” concert, which will feature harps and voices from around the Pacific Northwest, benefits the therapeutic harp program at Providence Everett Medical Center. Therapeutic harp music can help people experience a sense of comfort and peace.

Girl Scouts learn about car care
Girl Scout Troop 3037 recently participated in the “Car Sense Badge” workshop at 3D Automotive. Ten girls from the troop received automotive badges, along with instructions on auto maintenance.
Opening event for Cougar Park
A grand opening ceremony for Cougar Park is scheduled for 3 p.m. Monday at the park, 32nd Avenue SE and 148th Street SE.
The opening ceremony will include remarks by Mayor Donna Michelson and city manager Steve Nolen, a ribbon cutting and refreshments.
