Bothell

College transfer help at fair

The University of Washington’s Bothell campus hosts a Plan-a-Transfer Fair from noon to 3 p.m. Friday in the commons, 18115 Campus Way NE.

Prospective students can learn how to transfer to UW-Bothell or enroll in dual enrollment programs through their community college.

The fair will include workshops on how to write essays and resumes for admissions, financial aid and scholarship applications.

Edmonds

Board to discuss new arts center

The Edmonds Public Facilities District Board of Directors will meet Tuesday to discuss construction issues on the new Edmonds Center for the Arts.

The meeting is scheduled for 8:15 a.m. at City Hall, 121 Fifth Ave. N.

The width of the orchestra pit and stage are among the topics to be discussed, and public comment will be taken.

Candidates sought for council

Applications are being taken for a position on the City Council.

Council holds workshop session

The City Council and Planning Commission will hold a special workshop at 6 p.m. today.

The County UGA Plan and an update on the City Comprehensive Plan will be items of discussion.

The meeting will be at the Community Senior Center, 1808 Main Street.

Civil service panel to meet today

The Lake Stevens Civil Service Commission has scheduled a special meeting to elect officers at 6 p.m. today at the city’s annex, 1812 Main St., located behind City Hall.

Church plans outreach dinner

Mukilteo Presbyterian Church has scheduled its first community outreach dinner for Saturday.

Anyone in need, including those who are homeless, low-income, elderly or disabled, are especially invited, but anyone is welcome.

The dinner is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at the church, 4514 84th St., Mukilteo.

The church plans to hold the dinner the first Saturday of each month. For more information call the church at 425-355-2802.

Snohomish County

Health district taps new leaders

The Snohomish Health District Board has chosen County Councilman Gary Nelson to serve as this year’s board chairman.

The board named Marysville City Councilwoman Donna Wright as vice chairwoman.

The decisions were made at the board’s Thursday meeting.

The health district is the local public health agency for Snohomish County, and 15 local elected officials are on its board.

All five Snohomish County Council members serve on the board, as well as city council members from Monroe, Marysville, Edmonds, Everett, Lynnwood, Mukilteo, Mill Creek and Mountlake Terrace.

Fire District 14 gives out helmets

Snohomish County Fire District 4 is giving away free bicycle helmets, paid for through a grant from the Washington Traffic Safety Commission.

The dark-blue helmets range from sizes XS-XL.

To get a helmet, go to the district’s station at 1525 Avenue D and fill out a survey. Call 360-568-2141 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. to schedule an appointment.
