Sno-Isle has audio books on Web site
The Sno-Isle Library System has a new program for people who have little time at home to read.
The libraries now offer access to downloadable digital audio books from the district’s Web site at www.sno-isle.org. The books may be “checked out” through a link under “news,” “Reader’s Resources” or the library catalog.
Similar to checking out traditional books, library customers search the catalog of audio e-book vendors (OverDrive and Recorded Books). Digital downloadable audio books can be downloaded to a Windows PC, a Windows-compatible portable listening device, and, in some cases, burned onto a compact disc. Audio e-books check out for 21 days. Downloadable book services are not compatible with Apple products such as Macintosh computers or iPods.
Through the two audio book services, customers have access to more than 50,000 titles. In addition to popular reading for all ages, the services offer language instruction audios and current nonfiction. Both services are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
