Mukilteo

Development plans changed

At a work session today, the Mukilteo City Council plans to discuss what type of development should be allowed on land at the intersection of Paine Field Boulevard and Mukilteo Speedway.

The 23-acre property, referred to as Sector 3, is owned by Harbour Pointe Limited. The landowner had planned to build a grocery store on the site, but now those plans may be changing, Mukilteo City Councilman Marko Liias said.

A bank and some light industrial buildings already take up about 8 acres of the property, Liias said.

The city had reached a development agreement with the landowner that would have allowed a grocery store, but the agreement expires in November, Liias said.

The City Council work session is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. at City Hall, 4480 Chennault Beach Road.
