Council will hear about park plans
Information on two park projects will be presented at a meeting of the Edmonds City Council today.
One is an early-stages plan to redevelop the former Woodway High School site at 23200 100th Ave. W. into a multipurpose athletic complex.
The other plan involves building a skate park at Civic Center Playfield, directly behind the Boys &Girls Club at 310 Sixth Ave. N. A public hearing on this plan is tentatively scheduled for Dec. 6.
The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at the Public Safety Complex, 250 Fifth Ave. N.

Move of historic homes postponed
The scheduled moving of Donovan homes from the historic Donovan District on Oakes and Rockefeller avenues in north Everett to a new location east of Broadway did not take place this morning because of weather concerns.
Developer Steve Hager of 12th Street Partners, who has taken ownership of 11 of the Donovan homes, will reschedule the move.
Hager is moving the homes to save them from demolition scheduled for early next year, when Providence Everett Medical Center begins a major expansion project. Several homes are still available, free to anyone who can move them away. For more information, call hospital spokesman Mike Gaffney at 425-261-4033.
Tickets on sale for holiday lights tour
Tickets are on sale now for Everett Transit’s 2005 Holiday Lights Tour.
Two cans of food and $5 earns a spot on an Everett Transit bus that will tour the city’s most festive neighborhoods. Food and toy donations are also accepted.
Tours will be at 7 p.m., Dec. 14-18. The bus will depart each evening from Everett Station at 3201 Smith Ave. For more information, call 425-257-7777.
Granite Falls
Youth summit set for Dec. 13
Reservations are still being accepted for the Granite Falls Voices of Youth Summit, which will begin at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 13 at Granite Falls Middle School, 205 N. Alder Ave.
The summit will feature a diverse panel of teenagers presenting important, everyday local issues to community leaders.
The goal is to help the kids realize they can make a difference for themselves and their community.
The event will be sponsored by the Granite Falls Community Coalition, the Snohomish County Health and Safety Network and the county’s Office of Children’s Affairs.

Council considers city’s 2006 budget
The City Council will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at City Hall, 206 S. Granite Ave.
On the agenda is a public hearing about the 2006 budget.
The council is also scheduled to consider adopting the city’s comprehensive plan, which sets land-use policies and directs how fast and where the city should grow.

Water resource committee meets
The public is invited to attend the monthly meeting of the Water Resource Advisory Committee, an Island County group that gives oversight to local water resource programs.

Work begins on new food bank
Ground was broken Sunday for a new Lynnwood Food Bank building at 5326 176th St. SW.
The 4,368-square-foot food bank will cost about $450,000 to build, including donated materials and labor.
The Lynnwood Food Bank, which has been in existence for at least 26 years, serves about 3,800 people a month and hands out 934,559 pounds of food each year.
The food bank, a nonprofit organization, is located at Church of the Nazarene, but is a separate organization from the church.

Santa Claus will be next door at the lighthouse from noon to 3 p.m. Dec. 17.
