Signs first step in Oak Harbor plan
City staff in Oak Harbor are finishing a contract proposal with W.S. Sign and Design of Springfield, Mass., to create and install way-finding signs featuring the city’s new logo.
The signs would mark one of the first steps in a wide-ranging $32 million waterfront redevelopment plan the City Council approved in March.
That plan includes a new events center, amphitheater, restrooms, an extended boardwalk and many other things, although where funding for much of the project will come from has yet to be determined.
The council might vote on the contract for the signs at an economic development workshop Aug. 25 or at a meeting in September.
If approved, the signs could be up by the end of the year, said Steve Powers, the city’s development services director.
