City prepares for summer concerts
A country-gospel band called Circuit Riders is scheduled to kick off Bothell’s Music in the Park program in early July.
Shows in the free, eight-concert series begin at 6:30 p.m. Fridays at the park at Bothell Landing Amphitheater, 9919 NE 180th St. The first show is set for July 6.
People are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets. Shows are expected to take place rain or shine.

Edmonds
Music classes for young offered
Parents can engage their children’s musical interests at a class being planned by Edmonds Parks and Recreation.
Classes are scheduled from 9:30 to 10 a.m. for children ages 1 to 3 and from 10:15 to 11 a.m. for children ages 3 to 5 on Wednesdays from July 11 through Aug. 29. The cost for is about $100, plus a $10 supply fee.
Classes are expected to be held at the Frances Anderson Center at 700 Main St.
Parents or caretakers are required to participate with their children.

Everett
Tickets required to tour Navy ships
Naval Station Everett plans to offer tours of the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln and the guided missile destroyer USS Shoup from noon to 5 p.m. on the Fourth of July.
Free reservation tickets will be given to visitors as they enter the base on a first-come, first-served basis starting at 11 a.m.
Safety rules require visitors touring the ships to be least 8 years old and able bodied. Shoes must be flat-heeled and closed-toed. People with bare feet or wearing sandals will not be allowed on board.
Tours are part of the Navy base’s “Family Freedom Fest” from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Everyone is invited to the free Independence Day celebration at the Navy base at 2000 W. Marine View Drive.
In addition to ship tours, the event is scheduled to include craft vendors, food and beverages, live entertainment, children’s activities, a celebrity softball game and classic car show.
The event will end with the “Thunder on the Bay” fireworks show.
Cars will also not be allowed and people are encouraged to walk or park at Everett Station, 3201 Smith Ave., where they can hop free shuttles.
Harry Lindbeck’s band still playing
With the recent passing of local dance band legend Harry Lindbeck, his band members are working hard to keep the crowds coming to dance venues where he once performed.
The musicians are continuing to perform Lindbeck’s swing music, and have added some R&B tunes for the “West Coast Swing” dancers.
Harry’s band members are now calling themselves “Jack’s Swing Band,” and they will continue to perform each Thursday at 1 p.m. at Normanna Hall, 2711 and 2725 Oakes Ave. in downtown Everett.
Lynnwood
Benefit garage sale rescheduled
A garage sale to benefit the Lynnwood Police Department’s annual Shop With a Cop program has been rescheduled for July 6-8.
The event, being planned by Lynnwood resident Sue Emme, was delayed from its original date because of a rainy weather forecast.
It is now scheduled for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 6 and 7 and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 8 at 3505 180th Place SW, Lynnwood. The Shop With a Cop program helps provide Christmas presents for low-income families in Lynnwood.
Monroe
Luncheon for businesses set
The Monroe Chamber of Commerce plans to have its membership luncheon at noon on July 10 at the Rock Church, 16891 146th St. SE.

Gallery to have new exhibit
Arts of Snohomish Gallery is set to present pastels by Dean Shepard and paintings and copper jewelry by guest artist Leah Wolf from Sunday through July 31.
The gallery is at 105 Cedar Ave. Parking and admission are free.
