Island County: Vacancy on board

The Island County Board of Commissioners is seeking applicants to serve on the Ebey’s Landing National Historical Reserve Trust Board.

The term runs through September 2013, and the deadline to apply is Sept. 11.

Island County: Fire District 3 gets funds

Island County Fire District 3 in Freeland recently received $187,236 from the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Assistance to Firefighters grant program for fire prevention and safety programs.

Lake Stevens: Sign up for kindergarten

Parents can register their children for kindergarten in the Lake Stevens School District from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday. All of the district’s elementary schools are scheduled to be open for registration, and parents do not need to call to make an appointment. To register, parents need a copy of their child’s birth certificate and proof of immunization.

Kindergarten students must be 5 years old by August 31.

Lynnwood: Gas line work in front of library

The usually quiet Lynnwood Library will be a little noisier for a week beginning Monday, Aug. 24 when city crews start work on a gas line in front of the library. Work will disrupt parking and cause more noise than usual between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., but the library will be open for its scheduled hours.

Mountlake Terrace: Annual picnic

The Mountlake Terrace Business Association has scheduled its annual picnic from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Ballinger Park, 2300 Lakeview Drive.

Submit art for annual juried art show

The Mountlake Terrace Arts Commission wants artists to enter their work for the 31st annual Juried Art Show that takes place Sept. 26 to Oct. 3.

Deadline for entries is Aug. 30. To enter and for details, go to www.cityofmlt.com and click on “Arts of the Terrace Prospectus” or “Arts of the Terrace Online Registration.”
