Free scooters, power chairs for MS patients
MS Helping Hands, a resource for recycling durable medical and mobility equipment, will hold a free monthly drawing to provide a free recycled scooter or power chair to a person with multiple sclerosis.
The person must live in Washington. These scooters and power chairs have been refurbished with new batteries and are ready for use.
To qualify, a person needs to provide proof from a doctor that he or she has MS and complete a Multiple Sclerosis Helping Hands Donor Closet monthly drawing form. The forms are available by e-mail at info@mshelp.org or by calling 425-712-1804.

Volunteers needed to clean up Jetty Island
A cleanup day sponsored by People for Puget Sound is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Volunteers are needed to remove weeds and to build a trail around newly planted areas.
Tools and a boat ride to the island are provided.
The 2-mile long, man-made island with sandy beaches is operated as a city park from July 4 to Sept. 1.

Mountlake Terrace
Water system plan detailed in open house
People can get information on the Mountlake Terrace Water System Comprehensive Plan at an open house planned for this month.
The open house is scheduled from 4 to 6 p.m. May 15 at Mountlake Terrace City Hall at 23204 58th Ave. W.
The plan addresses every aspect of operation, planning and management of the city’s water system. State law requires the plan to be updated every six years.
Updates to the plan are expected to include measures the city is considering to conserve water, promote green building and save energy.
People who use the city’s water system will be able to give feedback about the plan.
