Bothell: Man named to state board
A Bothell man has been appointed by Gov. Chris Gregoire to a three-year term on the state Home Care Quality Authority.
Stan Fukui, a retired solutions engineer for Hewlett Packard, is scheduled to serve on the authority until July 1, 2010. The authority was established to regulate and improve the quality of long-term, in-home care services by recruiting, training and stabilizing the work force of individual providers.
Fukui is a member of the youth council of the Workforce Development Council of Snohomish County, and he is on the advisory board for the Snohomish County Developmental Disabilities Council.
He is also an active member with the Snohomish County Leadership Project and the Snohomish County Developmentally Disabled Education and Community Initiative.
Lynnwood: Learn about digital cameras
Learn more about digital cameras at a class being planned for the Lynnwood Library.
The class, the first in a four-part series, is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday at the library at 19200 44th Ave. W.
In this class, participants are expected to learn what to look for in buying a digital camera, as well as how to use it to its full potential.
The remaining classes in the series are planned for 7 p.m. Jan. 3, Jan. 10 and Jan. 17.

Mill Creek: Book club to meet
Readers are invited to this month’s meeting of the Mill Creek Book Group.
The book group is scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. Dec. 13 at the Mill Creek Library at 15429 Bothell-Everett Highway.

Monroe: Movie night set for families
The Monroe Arts Council and Galaxy Theatres are set to offer Classic Holiday Movie Night at 7 p.m. on Dec. 11 at the Galaxy Theatre, One Galaxy Way.
The featured movie is the 1983 film “A Christmas Story,” depicting a 1940s family and young boy’s yearning for a special Christmas gift, a Red Ryder BB gun. Admission is $5.
People can support this event and other community visual and performing art activities by joining Monroe Arts Council. Annual membership is $25.
By joining at this event, people will receive a free movie pass to “A Christmas Story” and a coupon for a free bag of popcorn.

People can enjoy an afternoon of music at this month’s gathering of the Puget Sound Folk Harp Circle at the Mountlake Terrace Library.
