Mukilteo: Honoring Kaiser and Richter
A reception for two Mukilteo City Council members — one who is gone and another who is leaving — is being planned for before Monday’s council work session.
The reception for Bruce Richter and Lori Kaiser is scheduled from 5 to 6 p.m. at City Hall, 4480 Chennault Beach Road.
Richter, who resigned in November, had been with the council since 1990. He took his first job with the city on an advisory board 60 years ago.
Kaiser has served on the City Council since 2004. She chose not to seek re-election in this year’s race, and her term ends Dec. 31.
The reception precedes a City Council work session about annexation issues. The work session is from 6 to 8 p.m.
Snohomish: City gets crime-fighting grant
The City Council on Tuesday decided to accept a state grant of $9,999, which will be used for preventing crime and educating people about public safety.
The city’s police department plans to use part of the grant to buy bicycle helmets that will be used as awards for youth. The department could also use the grant to buy surveillance cameras for the city’s skate park.
