Everett: Candidate forum is tonight

Candidates for Everett School Board, Everett City Council and Everett Port Commission are scheduled to square off for a candidate forum at 7 p.m. tonight at Evergreen Middle School commons, 7621 Beverly Lane.

Doors to the free public event open at 6:40 p.m.

Candidates will answer questions from four Everett neighborhood associations. The audience will also get a chance to submit written questions to candidates.

Everett: Kerr will speak Saturday

Graham Kerr, award-winning author and internationally known culinary and television personality, is scheduled to appear at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Everett Public Library Auditorium, 2702 Hoyt Ave., for a talk and book signing.

Best known as “The Galloping Gourmet,” Kerr has sold more than 14 million copies of his nearly two dozen cookbooks.

Saturday’s talk will feature his two latest books: “Day-By-Day Gourmet Cookbook: Eat Better – Live Smarter – Help Others” and “Recipe For Life: How to Change Habits That Harm into Resources That Heal”

Lake Stevens: Meeting on cityhood

An informational meeting on annexation is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Lake Stevens Middle School, 1031 91st Ave. SE, in the Hill Crest neighborhood.

The area is not currently proposed for addition to the city. The city of Lake Stevens is conducting open houses in unincorporated areas near the city to ask residents for input about annexation and to provide information.

Mukilteo: Paint the town purple

Show your support for the Kamiak High School football team’s homecoming this week by decorating yards and workplaces with purple, the official color of the Kamiak Knights.

The Gridiron Club, a group of parent and community supporters of the school’s team, are providing posters and yard signs to anyone who wants to decorate for homecoming week, which started Monday. The homecoming game is at 7 p.m. Friday at Goddard Stadium against Meadowdale High School.

Awards are planned for the businesses and homeowners who best capture the homecoming theme of “Paint the Town Purple.” To enter the contest, send a photo of your decorations to kamiakfootball@hotmail.com. The deadline is Friday.

Snohomish: Club sets bazaar, bake sale

Snohomish Eagles No. 195 plans to have a bazaar and bake sale from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Nov. 3 at 604 Maple Ave.

A hand-crocheted afghan will be raffled off. A ticket is $1. All proceeds benefit cancer patients.
