Sewer work extended
Extra work on a $1.2 million sewer replacement project on Rucker Hill will extend the public works project for another month, and add another $309,000 to the cost.
The Everett City Council on Wednesday approved a change order from Bellingham’s Strider Construction on the project along the 3300 and 3400 blocks of Kromer Avenue.
The additional money will pay for concrete work needed to rebuild driveways, curbs, gutters and sidewalks and to install conduit for underground utilities so that crews won’t have to dig up the street to get to utility lines in the future.
Change orders, or changes in original construction plans, are common with large civil engineering contracts.
