Arlington: Girl Scout troops forming

New Girl Scout troops for girls ages 5 to 17 are forming in Arlington.

Registration nights are scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m.: tonight at Lakewood Elementary School, 17000 16th Drive NE, Arlington; Oct. 23 at Haller Middle School, 600 E. First St., Arlington.

Parents and other volunteers are needed to work with the new troops. No experience is necessary and all training is provided.

Marysville: Haunted egg hunt for Halloween

A Halloween haunted egg hunt is planned Oct. 30.

The event is open to young adults ages 11 to 15 and is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. Wear a Halloween costume, bring a flashlight and hunt for eggs in the dark at Jennings Memorial Park, 6915 Armar Road, Marysville.

Marysville Parks &Recreation and Kung Fu for Kids Academy are the event’s hosts.

Cost is $3 each. Please pre-register by Oct. 29. For more information, call 360-363-8400.

County property tax talk scheduled

A proposal to add a $5 tax per property across Snohomish County is scheduled for a discussion at a meeting Oct. 23 in Marysville.

The Snohomish Conservation District plans a meeting from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Marysville Library, 6120 Grove St., Marysville.

The district expects the tax could raise $1.1 million starting in 2009 to cover voluntary environmental stewardship programs.
