Darrington: It’s TimberFest time

The Darrington TimberFest community celebration is planned for Friday.

The event is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. with contests for ugly trucks and ugly pumpkin carving at Old School Park, at the intersection of Alvord and Givons streets. A parade, carnival games and a barbecue also are planned.

The festivities lead up to Darrington High School’s homecoming football game against Concrete High at 7 p.m.

Deaconess Children’s Services in Everett is sponsoring the event to give kids an alternative to drugs and alcohol.

Marysville: ‘Pumpkin Parade’ planned

Downtown Marysville’s Third Street merchants are planning their annual “Pumpkin Parade” for 4 to 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Costumed children are invited to meet on the southeast corner of Third Street and State Avenue to be led through businesses that are offering treats. The event is sponsored by the Downtown Marysville Merchants Association.

Venture Church plans to host a free bouncy house, inflatable slide and provide other treats from 3 to 5 p.m. in the parking lot of Carabinieri Espresso on Third Street.

Stanwood: Center plans haunted house

The Stanwood Community and Senior Center is organizing a haunted house that is scheduled to begin Friday and run through Halloween. The haunted house is located at Josephine Sunset Home, 9901 272nd St. NW.

The $5 admission is scheduled to benefit the center’s “Just for Kids” program and Josephine Sunset Home’s 100th anniversary plans.
