Edmonds: Gift shop wants to find a top cat

By popular demand, a gift shop on the Edmonds waterfront is holding a contest to elect a cat mascot for the coming season.

Cat owners have until the end of November to submit a 4-by-6-inch picture of their feline, along with the cat’s resume, at Faces of the NW, 300 Admiral Way, Suite 104.

People can come back to the store in December to cast votes for their favorite cats. Gift baskets are expected to be awarded to the winners.

The shop plans to donate $5 to the Lynnwood-based Progressive Animal Welfare Society for each of the first 30 entries.

The gift shop recently held a mascot contest for dogs, but the rules didn’t specifically prohibit other animals from entering. A young girl in Seattle entered her pet hamster, Garfield, in the contest. This time around, only cats are eligible.
