Edmonds: Outreach panelists are sought

The city of Edmonds is seeking two members for its community outreach committee.

The committee promotes city programs to encourage participation and increase awareness of issues in the city.

Applicants must live in Edmonds. The committee meets at 8:30 a.m. the fourth Thursday of each month at City Hall. The deadline to apply is 4:30 p.m. Friday.

Lynnwood: PAWS seeks nominations

The Progressive Animal Welfare Society, based in Lynnwood, is taking nominations of girls and boys for its third annual Youth Helping Animals Award.

Nominees must not be older than 18. The deadline is Feb. 29.

Monroe: Arena naming rights bought

The Snohomish County Explosion has signed an agreement with McGough Construction and Entertainment for the naming rights of the court at the Monroe Sports Arena.

Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

The Explosion season begins March 1 on McGough Court at the Monroe Sports Arena.

Roosevelt Road annexation approved

The City Council on Tuesday approved a 71-acre annexation called Roosevelt Road. The vote was unanimous.

Property owners of the 71 acres along Roosevelt Road just northwest of the city limits had pitched the idea to the city.

The city of Monroe had more than 16,000 people as of 2006, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
