Bothell: City ponders transportation plan

A six-year plan to prioritize transportation projects in Bothell could be approved at the next City Council meeting.

The meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall, 10116 NE 183rd St.

The 2008-2013 Six-Year Transportation Improvement Program contains 49 projects with estimated funding needs of more than $233 million. The list contains projects such as adding signals and turn lanes to key arterial roads and reconstructing Main Street through downtown.

Edmonds: Exhibit celebrates sculptors

An art exhibit celebrating the 40th anniversary of the founding of the Sculptor’s Workshop is on display this month in downtown Edmonds.

The exhibit can be viewed from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays through the end of the month at the Frances Anderson Center, 700 Main St.

The artwork in the exhibit was crafted by Rose Morgan and David Murphey, who were co-directors of the Sculptor’s Workshop in the 1970s. Murphey was one of the group’s first instructors after it was formed in 1967.

Morgan died in January this year, and Murphey, 87, retired early this year.

Lynnwood: Adults can practice their English

Adults who are learning to speak English as a second language can practice their skills at an event planned for the Lynnwood Library.

The event, Talk Time, is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at the library, 19200 44th Ave. W.

Volunteers from the Snohomish County Literacy Coalition are scheduled to be on hand to assist people as needed.

Mill Creek: City asks for trash pick-up help

Trash pickers and bags are being provided to volunteer groups who want to clean up garbage along roads and trails in Mill Creek.

Volunteers who take part in trash cleanup programs through the city must sign a waiver and pick up their supplies. Families, Scouts, church groups and other community organizations are encouraged to participate.

Monroe: Latino holiday event set

Everyone is invited to attend Las Posadas Community Holiday Event from 2 to 5:30 p.m. Saturday at Park Place Middle School Commons Area, 1408 W. Main St.

The free community holiday celebration will feature food, music and dancing in the traditions of Latin America. The event is presented by the Monroe Parks and Recreation Department and Northwest Latinos Unidos.
