Lynnwood: Rotary Club donates 360 dictionaries

Students at five elementary schools now have access to 360 new dictionaries courtesy of the Rotary Club of Lynnwood.

Lynnwood Rotarians donated the reference books to schools in the Edmonds School District. This is the third year the club has donated dictionaries to third-grade classrooms.

Students who received dictionaries through the program get to take their books home through the end of the school year.

Mill Creek: Learn healing through art at workshop

Discover the healing power of art at a workshop being planned for the Mill Creek Library.

The event is scheduled for 7 p.m. Oct. 23 at the library at 15429 Bothell-Everett Highway. The workshop is free, and no registration is required.

Participants are expected to do creative exercises to learn to use art to find their inner voices.

Monroe: ‘Harry Potter’ costume party set for kids

A “Harry Potter” costume party and dance is set to be held from 6 p.m. to midnight Saturday at Laurelwood Community Center, 123 N. Blakeley St.

Sponsors of this event include Razzmatazz Dance and Social Club, Flowers by Karen, the Hitching Post Cafe, Mrs. Pennycooke’s Catering, Main Street Books and local actors from Sky Valley Performing Arts.

Tickets are being sold for $13 per person. The event includes dinner, activities, games and dancing.

Mountlake Terrace: Road study session rescheduled

A study session about a long-term plan to accommodate pedestrians and bicyclists in Mountlake Terrace has been rescheduled for later this month.

The city planning commission’s study session on the 2008-2025 Citywide Transportation Master Plan and Transportation Improvement Program is scheduled for 7 p.m. Oct. 22 at City Hall, at 23204 58th Ave. W.

Ideas for the city’s Transportation Master Plan include new or improved sidewalks, trails, bike lanes and other features. The Mountlake Terrace City Council is planning to begin discussing a draft plan at its meeting tonight.
